If momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy! Yes, we know it's your big day and it's all about you, but keep in mind that your wedding is a big moment for mom too. While it's not your job to appease her, you can keep the peace and get her involved without sacrificing your sanity or vision. From allowing her to invite a few of her friends to simply asking for her opinion on certain things, here are six ways to make the mother of the bride happy as a clam.

1. Let her host her own shower

If your mom's like most mothers of the bride, she's been waiting for this day ever since the day you were born (literally) and can't wait to throw a party in your honor. So while you may not want to have multiple showers or travel back home just to get showered, is it really the worst thing in the world to let mom have her moment and not make her share it with others? Hey, more gifts and cake for you, bride!

2. Give her some invites to dish out

Even if it's only a few, your mom will be super stoked and appreciative to invite a couple of her closest friends to attend your big day. Every party's more fun with your BFFs by your side, right? Chances are, she's been your rock throughout this whole process and helped you every step of the way too, possibly even footing the bill for many things. So if you can, make a little room in your guest list to show mom just how much you appreciate her.

3. Assign her an important task or two

Calling all control freaks! Time to let go and let mom take the reigns on something. Not only will it relieve a lot of stress on your end, but it will also make her feel special and an integral part of the process. Play to her strengths. For example, maybe she's always been the crafty type and was a pro at helping you with school projects back in the day. Perhaps she can organize and arrange the welcome bags or favors for the wedding?

4. Actually listen to her ideas

It's so easy to do, and all moms really want to be is just heard. So hold back the eye rolls and no way in hells for now, and give her ideas the time of day they deserve…yes, even if they are ridiculous! It's not like you actually have to implement any of them, but simply listening without criticism/cattiness should do the trick. Oh, and thank her for sharing.

5. Ask for her opinion

Again, even if you do the opposite, it'll make mom feel good to weigh in with her opinion on everything from the dress to the flowers to the menu. So when you're stuck between two choices, hit up mom for some help.

6. Keep her posted on wedding details
Let your momma know what's going on every step of the way! If you just booked the band or settled on a photographer, shoot her a quick text to update her on the latest. It only takes two seconds and will score you major daughter points all the while putting a big smile on her face. Basically, it's a win-win for everyone.
