A Story of Healing, Hope & Living in Awe

Hi GSD Leader!

You’ve probably heard the saying, “everything comes in threes.” And if you haven’t, ask yourself this: How would I react if life unraveled all at once and how would I shift my priorities?

For Raquel, that saying became all too real. In 2019, her world began to shake. First, she lost her beloved grandmother. Then, a decade-long relationship came to an end. And then, the third hit came when she received a rare cancer diagnosis. Just as the world began shutting down in 2020, her entire reality was flipped upside down.

But instead of collapsing under the weight of it all, Raquel made a radical choice: She trusted her gut. She chose to live.

And what unfolded next might just change the way you think about healing forever. Because if you’ve ever been on a healing journey, you know it’s ongoing. It’s not something you finish. And honestly? You don’t want it to end. Because every layer you peel back reveals more clarity, more alignment, and more truth.

If you’ve ever felt hopeless…
If you’ve ever found yourself searching for answers that didn’t show up in a prescription pad…
If you’ve ever questioned the system or wondered if there’s a different path to wellness… this story is for you.

🧠 When the World Says “Fear,” Choose Life Instead

The next time you’re hit with “bad news,” pause. Take a breath, and ask yourself: What other options do I have?

Because oftentimes we’re pushed into a corner to make a decision because of fear. And when you’re in that place, it’s easy to default to what others say you should do, especially when they claim to know best. But in my opinion, the people who truly know best are the ones who’ve actually lived through it.

Raquel’s diagnosis was terrifying. A rare form of pancreatic cancer usually found in young, healthy women. Doctors immediately pushed for surgery, warning her she would die without it.

But her gut said: Pause.

With her family supporting her every step, she chose a different path. One rooted in nature, nutrition, movement, and unshakable faith.

She didn’t fight the illness. She chose to care for it.
She stopped resisting and started revering her body.
And that’s when the healing truly began.

💡 What This Means for You:
You have a choice, especially when it comes to your mindset.
Your mind is powerful. You just have to learn how to direct it. That’s why I swear by cold plunges because it teaches you another level of control in fight or flight mode.

You’re allowed to ask questions.
You’re allowed to trust your body.
You’re allowed to carve your own path no matter how different it looks.

💡 Healing Tip:
One of my all-time favorite books is Letting Go by David R. Hawkins, M.D., Ph.D. If you’re ready to take that next step in mindset mastery, get it HERE.

💔 Healing Isn’t Always Supported

Choosing a different path came with criticism even from people Raquel loved. That fear of judgment almost kept her quiet. And for a long time, she stayed silent. Not because she lacked courage, but because she was protecting her heart.

Sharing her story with us wasn’t easy. It took deep strength, years of reflection, and the decision to speak her truth anyway so that someone else might feel seen.

Because healing isn’t meant to happen in silence.

💡 What this means for you:
You don’t need permission to heal in your own way. Sometimes, your voice becomes the light someone else has been waiting for. One thing that you could do is join a judgement free community that shares the same challenges as you.

🌿 Wellness Is a Way of Living

Raquel’s healing journey didn’t just defy medical expectations, it opened the door to a miracle. Despite being told she’d struggle with fertility, she gave birth to a healthy baby girl. And after her daughter’s birth, her cancer markers dropped by 50%. The doctors of course are baffled, but this just proves that your mindset and the power of your mind is so powerful.

Coincidence? Maybe. Miracle? Definitely.
Proof that our bodies respond to care, presence, and belief? Absolutely.

💡 What This Means for You:
You don’t have to overhaul your life overnight. Just start with one thing. Open the blinds and let the sunlight in. Go for a walk. Move your body, even a little. Do one thing today for you. And watch how your body responds when you choose love over fear, nourishment over neglect, and possibility over limitation.

🪄 Living in Awe: Turning Pain into Purpose

Today Raquel runs Living In Awe: a platform where stories like hers become sources of strength. A home for those navigating healing, exploring creativity, and redefining wellness on their own terms.

If you’ve been waiting for a sign… this is it.

Your story might not look like hers, but the message is the same:
You’re allowed to question.
