Continue ReadingHi, y'all. I'm Pamela Peskin. And you're about to do Pamela Pipkins. Holiday work. Pick up this jar, put it on the tray, pick up this jar, put it on the tree, pick up this jar, put it on the tree, it's Christmas time for you and me. Don't say it.
Don't say it. sit on Santa's sleigh and ask for a six pack.
I'm clearly not picking up pumpkin. But that is a really fun activity to do with your family. All right, so I was about to do a podcast. But I want to do a family activity called a lifeline. My treadmill desk decided to just go out on me, which really sucks because trying to get your steps in without a treadmill desk when you're working all day, is really effing difficult. So you just get to watch me walk around should be known as the kitchen island. I don't use it at the kitchen island. Clearly, it's like a bill desk. All the stuff that I need to do content for that activity. Let's jump in. If you're listening to this around the holidays, especially pay attention. Because this activity can really be fun, it can bring your family closer together. It really can help you chart out your future. It can help you identify gaps, it can help you identify areas of focus where you want to focus on moving forward with your life. And guess what it's really hard to get to your goal without the right support. And outside of work. We spend the rest of our lives with our family and our friends. So why not be on the same page? Right? Why not be on the same page? Yeah, communication is hard. Especially in your family, when you have completely different experiences in life. You just don't have anything in common. But what can bring you back to commonality is this exercise called a lifeline. This is what you're going to need, you're gonna need Okay, ready? Shocker, you're gonna need some paper, preferably like big paper, like, like this kind of paper, draw line a little bit. And then write the years from when you were born all the way to now every year. And on the top, you write the high for that year. And on the bottom, you write the love for that year. And you want to start to chart out some of your life experiences, and really think about some of the stories and some of the things that you've been through. And some people have been through trauma, and they've never dealt with it feel like the time that we live in now. Therapy and mental health is actually an acceptable thing, which I love because I come from mental health. Oh my god. Alexa is talking to me, she thinks I'm talking to her. That's weird. The next step is to add some colored pencils or markers, and start to chart any type of pattern that you see. What you might start to see is after college, your family kind of splits, your sibling split. Sometimes parents split, they get divorced, because they realize they live their life around their kids. That's where friction starts because people don't know how to effectively communicate with each other. When they share such different experiences in life. It doesn't mean that one's right or wrong. It's not what it means at all. It's just good to be self aware, and for your family to be aware that your experiences are very different. And at the end of the day, you can only trust so hard to really care. And as an entrepreneur, it's hard when when your family isn't an entrepreneur, they don't understand how do we become an entrepreneur Reedham so we could do what we want. Choose who our clients are. But I do want to encourage you if you've never done this exercise called a lifeline. I'm going to show you This is what like a finished product could look like. You can go up and down, or you can go this way. It's just a good start. And then I always like to have one personal goal, one family relationship goal, and then one business goal for the year. Because if we try to do too much we shut down and then we do nothing. Yes. Oh, yeah, I'm at 10,231. Yeah, I did. Go to Soho House today. And walk on the treadmill there with my laptop editing. The closest seven o'clock. I tried treadmill technician is coming on Tuesday. And if they tell me I ruined my treadmill, because I did not lubricate it. I'm gonna be pissed. Because no one told me that I'm sure it was in the manual. Or like, I don't read manuals, and I definitely don't read the fine print. In fact, I've paid for the white glove service for some nice man to set it all up for me because yeah, I just I'm not going to do it feedback free lifespan for people like me who like don't read. I know it's my fault. But a big red sticker that says every 150 miles you walk lube, lubricate your your belt, where you can run your treadmill in black Friday's coming up. And I love it. I love it so much when people message me and they're like, What treadmill, this you use, what treadmill does he use? And I'm like, Okay, we have an affiliate link, if you're inspired to get a treadmill desk, check out lifespan. It's not the one and only like, we have affiliate lined up with multiple companies for treadmill desks because it's not a one size fits all. Not everybody needs the same thing. And there's different kinds. But this specific one that I have is from lifespan. That changed my life. It brought me back to life. Thank God because I still have a lot to do. I want to live a long time. How long do you want to live? Just think about that. And what impact do you want to make? So ready? lifelines? Here we go. Don't wait till the first of the year to do it. You can do it. You can sit down and do a lifeline at any time. It's never a good time. It's never a bad time. You just have to take the first step. Keep moving. I'm so thankful and so grateful for you. But just remember to be present with your family and your friends because your time is precious and you can never get that time back. It's priceless.
