Content Creation Is A Full Time Job
You may find yourself scrolling through Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, or any social media platform for that matter and think to yourself... how are all of these small business owners putting out so much content? And more importantly, where are they finding the time? Because creating and managing content is like a full time job. And you either love it or hate it.
If you are wondering why you should even create a content plan. I will tell ya. Think of all the ways you can help people with your service or product. And why not share that message with the world.
Most people don’t take the time to sit down and come up with a company strategy to market a consistent message for the company brand. That is where I come in; I am all about GSDing, so let’s jump in and Get Shit Done!
If you need help starting with your content plan, let’s start here:First create your client avatar. Your perfect client. Think of things like: age range, demographics, income level, where do they hang out, what do they drive, gender, where do they live, industries work in, titles, where do they shop. Like all the things. Then create content around talking to that ONE person which is your client avatar.
Traditional marketing is out the window and if you don’t have a full time digital team mapping things out for you, on what to do, what to say, what to wear, and the list goes on and on, it could get overwhelming.
Creating content is one of the most frequent questions we get by other business owners. So I am going to let ya in on this secret. There are 4 key things to think about.
Plan: Have a plan
There are 52 weeks in the year. You want to commit to at least posting one time a week. If you don’t know what to say think of it this away. If you have three main services you offer rotate those services every three weeks. Tell a story and add value and then have ONE CTA, call to action asking the viewer to only do one thing.
Strategy: This is a must
Ensuring you use keywords and hashtags when planning your content is a must. Then putting together a calendar of when you want to talk about what you want to talk about. Starting with the holiday calendar is an easy one. Be sure to set goals and deadlines for you and your team.
Batch: Batch Your Content
What I mean by this is to schedule a full day one time a month to create the content. Whether that is writing copy, taking photos or capturing video, you want to get into the zone and focus. Then wash, rinse repeat. When I shoot one video, my team uses it nine different ways!
Focus: Schedule on platforms
This is the most important. Consistency is king. I would suggest getting your content all done and lined up before your start to release it. I like to work a quarter ahead of time at least.
Now, none of it matters if you are not going to make the commitment to doing the work. So block the time on your calendar and surround yourself with the right people that will help hold you accountable!
Happy planning!
